14 Best Places to Make Custom Christmas Cards
One of my favorite Christmas traditions is making custom Christmas cards online with pictures of our family to send to loved ones. I also collect the ones I receive and hang them up near our Christmas tree. The thing I love about this tradition is that it keeps everyone connected, year after year, although we might all be hundreds of miles apart. It’s always fun to look back at the cards and see how much everyone changed.
I’ve made custom Christmas cards ever since my daughter’s first Christmas 16 years ago. Over the years, I’ve used a few different photo companies with online customization tools for holiday card personalization. I’ve included those sites and a roundup of other top-rated custom photo card sites here for you to try out for yourself.

Where to Make Custom Christmas Cards
Whether you want to send Christmas cards with photos of your family for the holidays or you’re looking for a traditional Christmas card set to personalize and send, the following sites are some of the best places to visit. Not only do they have numerous cards for Christmas and other holidays, most of them also feature excellent sales around the holidays to save on your holiday cards.
Minted
Minted features tons of holiday cards and Christmas cards that you can customize and personalize to your heart’s content. I love that most of them have different color palettes to choose from to really showcase your family’s personality and get the look you want. Different card options, like foil-pressed and vellum overlay, ensure that you get the most unique and eye-catching Christmas photo card options to share with friends and loved ones.
Shutterfly
Shutterfly is one of my all-time favorite places to buy photo gifts, including custom Christmas cards. During the holidays, Shutterfly always has amazing sales going on, including 50% or more off on everything. You can create a free account to upload the photos you want to use in your cards and take advantage of the free editing tools to make everything look just right. Card options range from luxurious to classic to funny and everything in between.
Vistaprint
Vistaprint has beautiful holiday cards for as low as $1.21 each, making it easy for you to save on your Christmas card photo sending this year. For some really unique ideas, check out the Global Artists Collection for limited-edition cards from artists around the world.
Snapfish
At Snapfish, I’ve seen sales for as much as 70% off holiday cards during the end of November and beginning of December. Perfect timing to get all your custom Christmas cards made for a fraction of the regular price. When I’ve used Snapfish, I’ve always been impressed with the quality of the cards and photo printing, and their prices are almost unbeatable. There are so many cute designs that you won’t find anywhere else, too!
Personalization Mall
Personalization Mall has several adorable designs to choose from. You can even make a Christmas card ornament for something a little different (grandparents love getting stuff like this!). You can also order cards for Hannukah or New Year here.
Walgreens
Order your Christmas and holiday cards through Walgreens and you can even get your return address printed on the envelopes to save you time sending cards. Walgreens offers folded cards, flat cards, and postcards in a variety of styles and colors. If you have a Walgreens nearby, you can even send your custom card order there to get them faster.
Walmart
Walmart cards are perfectly priced if you’re looking to save money on your cards this year. (And they’re still beautiful!). There are plenty of cards designs to choose from, from full-photo cards to those with multiple spots for adding pictures of kids, pets, etc. Speaking of pets…there are even PET PHOTO CARDS (!!!), designed for families with furbabies. They’re beyond adorable.
Etsy
When shopping for custom photo holiday cards this year, don’t forget about Etsy! Etsy is the place to go for anything personalized and unique, and I absolutely love the holiday card options here. Talented people paint cards, use their graphics design prowess to create your family, and even make handmade envelopes. Support small business owners this holiday season by finding this year’s Christmas card on Etsy.
Mixbook
Mixbook isn’t quite as well-known as the other sites on this list, but it’s still a good option to browse. There are a lot of unique designs here that aren’t quite like those you’ll find on other sites. I love some of the foil designs that really make your card’s lettering stand out. Card designs can include 0 to 4+ photos.
Simply to Impress
Simply to Impress has holiday cards in all categories, including Religious, New Year, and Christmas. You can even go with the flow for this crazy year and settle on some pandemic-inspired cards! When there are sales on cards here, you can find some for as low as $0.77 each.
Staples
Find 4×8 and 5×7 Christmas and holiday cards to customize at Staples. You can buy them in sets of 25 with envelopes included. If you have a Staples store nearby, you can even get same-day printing if you order before 2 PM for select card designs.
Papier
Paper has some of the most creative and different greeting cards you’ll find for the holidays. I mean, look at the adorable Snow Tiger design above – I love it! You can personalize your cards with a message, photos, and more. The site sometimes offers free return addressing, too.
Picaboo
There are lots of cute, colorful designs on Picaboo. Choose from Christmas, Hanukkah, New Year’s, or Season’s Greetings. You can also start with a blank template to create your own design.
Canva
If you’re not finding exactly what you’re looking for, you can always design your holiday card set yourself. Canva makes it easy to do, even when you don’t have a lick of designing experience to call your own. Add elements, photo filters, gorgeous fonts, and colorful backgrounds to make your cards completely original. If you sign up for Canva Pro (SO worth its low cost!), you’ll get 100 GB of cloud storage, access to all Pro elements and features, and hundreds of thousands of professional templates to help you get started. Opt for the annual subscription, if you can, to save the cost of about 3 months worth of Canva Pro!
Save Money on Custom Christmas Cards
The companies I listed above have amazing prices and deals during the holidays to help you save. But if you’re like me, you still like finding additional deals to save even more money.
When I’m shopping for anything online, including my Christmas cards, I always use two things to help me save: Swagbucks and Honey.
Swagbucks is a rewards site that lets you earn cashback when you shop online with its partnered retailers. For example, Minted is a partnered retailer. When you click the Minted link through Swagbucks and complete your purchase, you’ll get 1% cashback into your Swagbucks account. To make the process even easier, download and install the Swagbucks extension. When you shop on a site that partners with Swagbucks for cashback, the extension will let you know and do everything for you. You’ll also get notified when there are promo codes to use with your order!
Honey is another cashback service that works with several of the custom Christmas card sites I mentioned. When you shop with the Honey extension installed, you’ll get Honey Gold (cashback) for your purchase. Plus, like Swagbucks, Honey automatically looks for working promo codes for you to use. Click here to join Honey and start saving! When you’ve earned enough Honey Gold, you can redeem it for gift cards to Amazon, Walmart, and more.
